Blowing Out Natural Hair with Olaplex 4-5-6!

A sign of a great blow-dry is one that still has bombshell quality even after a few days. A sign of an even greater hairstylist, is one that can flawlessly blow out a client’s hair, no matter the texture. We combined those two ideals with LA Blow Out Queen, Kelly Wood, and OLAPLEX No.6 Bond Smoother for an epic, healthy, frizz-free blowout!
Stylists can spend hours on a blow-dry depending on the client’s hair type, which is why the excitement for OLAPLEX No.6 is at its peak. Using Olaplex No.6 in a blow dry helps make the hair more manageable by eliminating frizz for up to 72 hours, moisturizing the hair, and making it healthier all in one. No.6 is ideal for all hair types from straight, curly, and coily to healthy or damaged. It is also completely non-toxic and free of Parabens, Phthalates, Colorants, 1,4 Dioxanes, Formaldehyde, Methylisothiazolinone, Toluene, Triclosan, SLS, SLES or ALSs. It is also free of silicone, sulfates, peroxide, gluten, soy, and dairy.
Kelly’s model has naturally curly, processed hair, just one of the many canvases OLAPLEX works perfectly on! Here’s how Kelly approached the service:
To cleanse, Kelly used Olaplex No.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo to wash away any impurities in her model’s hair while rebuilding the bonds. A little bit of this product goes a long way! To follow, Kelly conditioned with Olaplex No.5 Bond Maintenance conditioner. Kelly loves to condition with No.5 as it is deeply moisturizing, which is essential for curly hair! Another perk of using No.5 is while it’s hydrating the hair, it’s using Olaplex’s patented technology to rebuild the hair simultaneously, leaving it shiny, smooth, and resilient.
After rinsing the No.5 out of the hair, Kelly lightly towel dried the hair, leaving it damp. She then took to Olaplex No.6 Bond Smoother to prep the hair for a fantastic blowout! She used about a nickel sized amount of No.6 throughout the hair, working the product in with her fingers. No.6 is an excellent post-wash because it also serves as a detangler, which comes in quite handy before a blow dry!
To blow-dry, Kelly used an Ergo brush to smooth out the hair in sections. “They’re really good for airy blowouts and creating volume as the heat goes straight through the brush, helping you blow dry way quicker,” says Wood. The brush also helps her get tension at the root, giving her more control for a smooth blowout regardless of the hair’s texture. She taps the root ever so quickly each time she pulls away with her brush to remove kinks and texture commonly left at the root. Kelly says, “Tension is the most important part of the blowout, that’s how I get the hair so smooth! Also, be mindful of how you blow dry when you’re working with sections. You don’t want a split to be noticeable, so blow-dry in different directions for a seamless look.”
The final result is glowing, shiny, voluminous, strong, and smooth! This is last well until her clients’ next wash, at least a week, and with Olaplex No.6 she doesn’t have to worry about waking up with major frizz. Along with stellar blow dry skills, Kelly was able to cut down her blow dry time by using No.6 with fewer touchups throughout the process, as the product made the hair easier to work with and tamed the flyaways throughout!
